A. If people want to improve your customer service, you need to listen to the people and give them what they want. If you are looking for help with your homework, you might try another forum.

How important is customer service to you?
Q. Does good customer service make you a customer? What makes you return to a certain store or business?

A. Customer service is a biggie in my book. I will go someplace further away or someplace that costs a little bit more if I get better customer service. I think it has to do partially with the fact that I've been there. I've worked those kind of jobs. Just like Shannon J, I worked at a Kroger company (I worked at Dillon's, but it's the same company) and customer service was a HUGE issue there, especially in my department, I worked in the "Customer Service" desk. I also worked tech support for an internet service provider, and again, customer service was a huge focus there as well. I also try to go out of my way and tell the manager about someone who does an excellent job providing customer service. I know a lot of times the managers… [cont.]

Does Verizon have the worst customer service or what?
Q. I just switched all my cable, internet and phone to Verizon FIOS. The technology is great, but I've had nothing but headaches from their customer service. They screwed up switching my phone number, so I have a temporary phone number for 3 weeks until they can straighten it out. I've had to call the customer service line for other issues and have had extremely long wait times, got transfered to other reps all over the place, and just plain attitudes from them. Anyone else have bad service from Verizon? I used to think AT&T had the worst customer service but now Verizon has taken the number one spot!

What kind of Customer Service will it take for you to believe that the agent really cares about you?
Q. I am currently working in Customer Service and I really want to do good in my job. If you were a customer, what do qualities would you ask for so you'd know that I am sincere about providing you good service?

A. Too listen so well that you keep asking questions until you thoroughly understand the problems I'm having. the gold standard: you are willing to suggest something less expensive because it is a better fet for my real issues as discovered by your conversational questions. This is called "selling down (in price) to quality (when the high quality or best bargain costs less)."

How does the outsourced telephone customer service work?
Q. I just realized I have been talking to the same customer service representative for different products (different companies). This can only mean my number is part of some database that belongs to some company that provides this service wholesale, where my number automatically goes to the same rep.. Am I right on my assumption? I am extremely sure the voice is the same (with good clear connection) . Just curious.
Asked by Payattention - Wed Jun 10 10:16:44 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Not quite. Chances are that the outsourced corp has very few employees. Therefore, you seem to be speaking with the same person.

Q. The full question is: What do you consider to be good customer service? Give a specific example of an occasion when you have provided exceptional customer service. I've had no experience by the way, as in this is my first job, what could I put, the only experience i have is working in a library for 3 years, ( my school library).

A. A good customer service representative should handle the problems of their customers/clients carefully. He/she works under pressure and the best way he/she can do is to focus on the needs of the clients. The most important thing is you satisfy your customer needs.

Customer service is rare these days, anyone have a good experience in a retailer?
Q. Customer service needs to make a come back! Are there any companies that value their customers left in the US? Does anyone answer their own phones anymore? I want to hear about the good companies left!
Asked by myrottweilerrocks - Tue Oct 9 15:51:23 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are such stories, but they are becoming more rare with the passing of each day. I answer my own phone, and even answer it for my sales people and I'm the owner. The customer sure appreciates it when the person that can fix their problem is the person that answered their phone call to begin with. If my company ever got to the size where we needed an automated attendant, I'd shut the puppy down.. and start all over again...

How do you handle stress at work, especially customer service?
Q. I work in a customer service job and there's a lot of stress, especially lately. Does anyone have suggestions how to handle the stress in customer service to keep from losing it
Asked by Zat - Sat May 9 03:31:28 2009 - - 10 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I used to work in a customer service position in a complaint center, 10 hour days and it can be extremely stressful. I eventually had to quit because I just couldn't take it anymore. You have to learn not to take it personally when someone on the line is very rude and insulting to you. You have to let each call go. Try to put a smile on your face and offer the best customer service you can. If it is being too hard for you, maybe this is not the right job for you. Good luck.

How do you prevent bad customer service complaints when the customer is not truthful and is taking advantage?
Q. I guess the real question is: How do you provide exceptional customer service without going broke or getting a bad rep coz of people (maybe even employees who are customers) who know the rules and bend them to get things for free? By bend, I mean, lie butts off and go so far as to break what they bought, for example, and then say it was given to them that way.

A. I have found this to be true, and yes, i know this is from a movie... "Whenever an Idiot comes to me and gives me a hard time, I don't see any sense in getting all riled up and angry because the way I see it, the Universe tends to work out as it should..." I know it's corny that i'm rephrasing it, but what i'm trying to say is that there is nothing you can do about it at the time, except that you ask the manager if it is o.k. to put a new policy like that you have to check the items before they leave the store and make sure they are not broken and keep records of it, that way it is almost impossible to do so. It might take a lot of work, but in the end it will be worth it if this is really bothering you... Hope I helped...

Does anyone know of good customer service rep jobs, or work at home jobs?
Q. I am looking for quality customer service or any work-at-home jobs. I do not want to pay to get the information. Why should you pay for a job? I do not want any gimmicks or frauds. I know I am asking a lot. Yet, there must be good companies looking for employees to do customer service reps who can work at home. Again, I am not looking for something that I have to purchase to buy a list or anything. Thanks.

A. There are several agencies that contract people to answer phone calls and service clients from their home. They normally require that you have a computer with high-speed internet access, a phone line (no mobile), are able to speak good English, are at least 18 years old. Some of them do a background and credit check for candidates. You can read a bit more about it here:

Asked by Sho - Mon Jun 15 18:12:48 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "Seasonal" usually translates to mean the busy period for the company. For most retailers, that would mean the period of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not sure if that would be the same for blockbuster.

What should I expect in a customer service meeting?
Q. I have been working at Kohl's for about six months now. Our Kohl's store is the third from the worst customer service stores; now we are having a customer service meeting. What should I expect? Do you think they will make us speak in front of everyone and explain why? It will be one hour long.
Asked by eric251985 - Sun Mar 28 18:25:38 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Obviously you are afraid to speak in front of others. If you know the topic of discussion, and you must, you will have no problem even if you are called upon. And the odds are, you won't be. Someone from corporate, or maybe just the store manager, will be there to inquire what is going wrong in your store, who sees it, what can be done, any advice speak up. Or they just may fire those people who they already know are not giving 100% customer service. Remember, it's the customer who pays your salary. Without them you have no job. They are the reason you get up in the morning. There are numerous other retail outlets people can go to, instead of Kohl's, so you need to make it customer friendly. Answer questions as best you can. If you don't… [cont.]
